Quick answer: In Karnataka you can search the electoral roll, download your e-EPIC and apply for corrections on the ECI Voters’ Service Portal or the Voter Helpline app. The national voter helpline is 1950. The official card is free; a PVC print is an optional private copy that is not issued by the Election Commission.
Karnataka has a large urban population that moves often, especially around Bengaluru, so address changes and duplicate entries are common voter ID issues. This guide covers the usual steps. If you are new to the topic, read what a Voter ID (EPIC) card is first.
Check your name in the Karnataka electoral roll
Use the ECI electoral search with your EPIC number, or your name, relative’s name, age and district. The Chief Electoral Officer, Karnataka also publishes roll information. If your name is not there, apply with Form 6.
Download your e-EPIC
Log in with your registered mobile number on the Voters’ Service Portal or Voter Helpline app, enter your EPIC number and verify the OTP. Our e-EPIC download guide includes fixes for OTP and mobile-linking problems.
Moved within Bengaluru or to another city?
If you moved homes, change the address in the roll with Form 8 so that you vote at the right booth. If your name appears at two addresses, the duplicate should be addressed through the proper forms rather than ignored. See Forms 6, 6B, 7 and 8 explained. Make sure the English spelling of your name matches your Aadhaar and other records.
Lost or faded card
Download the e-EPIC again and apply for a replacement card if needed. See the lost voter ID guide.
